La Plata Authorities Investigate Fake Job Scam Ring

The Prosecutor's Office No. 8 in La Plata is investigating a series of scams involving fake job offers. A group posing as prison service employees deceived applicants by offering non-existent positions. According to the victims, the scammers demanded sensitive personal documents, including DNI, CUIL, educational certificates, and criminal records. To advance in the supposed hiring process, victims were required to participate in mandatory practical training and online meetings, under the threat of exclusion. It is alleged that over 200 people were affected by the scheme, some of whom even quit their jobs believing the offer was legitimate. The investigation has gathered testimonies and, reportedly, photo and video evidence to support the fraud claims. This week, a group of victims plans to submit new evidence to the authorities. The goal of making the situation public is to warn the community and prevent further people from being harmed. Victims are advised not to provide personal data without verifying the legitimacy of such offers and to file official reports if they suspect fraudulent activity.
